Iran Welcomes Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Deal
WANA (Mar 16) – In a phone call earlier today, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the latest developments in the Caucasus region, including the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Pezeshkian expressed his satisfaction with the agreement and congratulated both nations and their people on this significant achievement. He emphasized Iran’s longstanding support for peace, unity, and stability in the region, particularly among neighboring countries, while maintaining the territorial integrity of each nation.
President Pezeshkian also highlighted the growing and positive relationship between Iran and Armenia, urging the senior leadership of both countries to focus on expediting the implementation of bilateral agreements across various fields.
Prime Minister Pashinyan, in turn, provided an overview of the negotiations that led to the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He thanked Iran for its role and support in achieving the agreement and expressed Armenia’s commitment to continuing talks and consultations to implement the deal.
Pashinyan also conveyed his hope for the signing and full implementation of the agreement in the near future. The Armenian leader further acknowledged President Pezeshkian for fostering a dynamic and productive relationship between the two countries, emphasizing Armenia’s determination to execute the agreements made between the two nations.
